So I would feel fine with pointing the finger at Christina and her low waist witchcraft. Of course, I do believe there might be some good matte liquid lipsticks out there, but I’m definitely over it.ġ999 was a year of nothing but bamboozling for me. The same could be said for makeup techniques like baking (which did not personally work for me AT ALL although I know some people still swear by it). I really think we all just got bamboozled into thinking the dry lipsticks looked good on us. Their lip fillers made the lipsticks look smoother than they really were, and not to mention the smoothing filters and editing. In retrospect, I feel like a lot beauty gurus tricked us into thinking that matte liquid lipsticks look better than they really do. It also looks like matte lipsticks aren’t in style the way they used to be years ago.

The dryness, the cracks and wrinkles, the way they crumbled off my lips…Įventually I just could not do it anymore and switched to more moisturizing lipsticks, like velvets and glosses. However, deep down, I always wondered why they never looked good on me. I owned like 20 and wore them all the time. I was obsessed with matte liquid lipsticks in 2016.
